These events are for people on PEI who support individuals experiencing workplace harassment. This includes people and organizations that provide:

• Direct or front-line support
• Information, guidance, or education
• Referrals to other services or organizations
• Advocacy or community support
• Representatives from professional, business or trade associations and employee organizations (unions)
• Other forms of assistance to people looking for help

Organizations are welcome to send more than one representative, particularly where different team members play different roles in supporting the people you serve.

We are especially keen to hear from organizations who serve communities that statistically experience higher rates of workplace sexual harassment: Women, BIPOC, Disabled, 2SLGBTQIA+, Youth, Immigrants, temporary foreign workers and those working/living in rural communities.

Earlier this year, SHIFT hosted The First Step Symposium, bringing together organizations across PEI that administer complaints and provide resources and/or support related to all forms of workplace harassment. These community sessions build on that work by bringing the conversation into communities and hearing directly from the people and organizations who are often supporting Islanders at the earliest stages of seeking help.

Together, we’ll explore:

• What resources and supports are currently available?
• What are the challenges and barriers to accessing supports?
• Where are the gaps in available services?
• How do we improve and clarify referral pathways?
• What can we do together to make resources and supports more accessible?
• How do we safely connect people to the correct process?

PEI is a colourful and intricate patchwork quilt of cultures & communities. Every stitch is essential so it doesn't all fall apart. Support systems only work for the people who are consulted as part of its development.

This is an opportunity to shape how we address workplace harassment in our province. We need you to:

• Share what you are hearing and seeing about workplace harassment in your community
• Identify specific barriers and gaps;
• Discuss priorities for better resources and stronger supports
• Explore pathways to improving accessibility
• Connect and collaborate with other organizations who are also trying to make PEI a better, safer place to work and live.
